ADAS & Camera System Diagnostics

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems rely on precisely calibrated cameras, radar and sensors. After a windshield replacement, collision repair or bodywork, these systems often need recalibration to function correctly — and to keep you safe.

Why Calibration Matters

Modern vehicles use cameras and radar to support lane keeping, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and more. These systems are aligned to very tight tolerances from the factory.

Even a small shift — from a new windshield, a replaced bumper or a bodyshop repair — can knock a camera or sensor out of alignment. If the system isn't recalibrated, it may not operate when you need it, or could activate incorrectly. At OBD_PAL, we calibrate sensors after windshield replacements or collision repairs so your safety systems function perfectly.

Systems We Diagnose & Calibrate

Front Camera Systems

Forward-facing cameras support lane keeping, traffic sign recognition, automatic emergency braking and high-beam assist. Misalignment after a windshield change or repair can disable these functions.

Radar Sensors

Radar units support adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and collision avoidance. Calibration is often required after bumper removal, realignment or replacement.

Parking & Surround Sensors

Ultrasonic parking sensors, 360° surround-view cameras and parking assist modules all rely on precise positioning and calibration after bodywork.

When Calibration Is Needed

Calibration is typically required after any work that affects the position or alignment of a camera, radar or sensor — including:

  • Windshield or glazing replacement
  • Front or rear collision repair
  • Bumper removal, refit or replacement
  • Panel or chassis alignment work
  • Module or sensor replacement
  • Camera housing or bracket replacement
  • Accident or bodyshop repairs
  • Suspension or alignment changes

Warning Signs to Look For

If any of the following appear after a repair, the ADAS system should be diagnosed and recalibrated before the vehicle is driven:

  • ADAS or Pre-Collision System Fault warning
  • Lane Keeping Assist unavailable message
  • Adaptive Cruise Control not functioning
  • Automatic Emergency Braking disabled
  • Blind-Spot Monitoring warning
  • Traffic Sign Recognition not reading signs
  • Front Camera unavailable or obscured message
  • Parking sensors or surround view not working

Our Calibration Process

01

Diagnostic Assessment

We scan the vehicle for ADAS-related fault codes and confirm which systems require calibration before any work is signed off.

02

Sensor & Component Check

Camera housings, radar units and mounting brackets are inspected for damage, alignment or incorrect fitment following repair work.

03

Static Calibration

Where required, static calibration is carried out using manufacturer-specified targets and positioning to set camera and sensor alignment precisely.

04

Dynamic Calibration

Some systems require dynamic calibration — a driven calibration procedure under set conditions to teach the system its corrected alignment.

05

Final Verification

Fault codes are cleared, systems are re-tested and the vehicle is confirmed road-safe before it is returned.

All Makes & Models

We provide ADAS diagnostics and calibration across a wide range of vehicle makes, using dealer-level diagnostic equipment and manufacturer-specified calibration procedures. Whether your vehicle needs a static target calibration, a dynamic driven calibration, or both, we carry out the correct procedure for your specific system.

ADAS Fault After a Repair?.

If your vehicle is showing an ADAS or camera fault following a windshield replacement or collision repair, don't leave it — have it diagnosed and recalibrated by OBD_PAL so your safety systems work exactly as intended.
