Vehicle Diagnostics
A full diagnostic scan across every module on the vehicle — not just the engine — using dealer-level tooling. You get a clear, jargon-free report of what we've found.
Symptoms That Need Diagnostics
A warning light is the vehicle's way of telling you something isn't right — but the code behind it rarely tells the whole story. Diagnostic work is most often needed for:
- Engine management, emissions or MIL warning light on the dash
- ABS, traction control, airbag or SRS warnings
- Transmission or gearbox warnings, limp mode or restricted performance
- Intermittent running faults — misfire, cut-out, hesitation or rough idle
- Warning messages that come and go with temperature or weather
- Faults that have defeated other garages or generic scan tools
Our Diagnostic Approach
The difference between a scan and a diagnosis is what you do with the data. We work through the fault properly:
- Full system scan — not just the engine. We read every ECU on the vehicle: engine, gearbox, ABS, airbag, body, comfort, networking and more.
- Live data inspection against expected values, so we can see what a sensor or actuator is actually doing — not just that it has flagged a code.
- Fault code interpretation in context. A code points at a circuit; it doesn't always name the part that's failed. We investigate before condemning anything.
- Comparison with known-good data and manufacturer procedures using FDRS, ISTA, SDD, ODIS and XENTRY — depending on the vehicle.
- A clear written report of what was found, what we recommend and why — before any further work is carried out.
What's Included
Full vehicle diagnostic
Comprehensive scan across all vehicle modules using dealer-level tooling. Fault codes read and explained in plain English. £100 + VAT.
Targeted fault diagnosis
Where a specific fault is already known, focused testing of the relevant system and components to identify the root cause.
Live data & component test
Sensor and actuator testing using live data, oscilloscope and load testing to confirm a fault before parts are replaced.
Clear, jargon-free report
You get a clear explanation of the fault, what's needed to fix it and a recommendation — no upselling, no guesswork.
What It Costs
A full vehicle diagnostic is £100 + VAT. This covers the full module scan, live data inspection where required, and a clear written report of the findings. Any further repair or programming work is quoted separately — you'll know the cost before we proceed.
