Airbag & SRS Faults in Telford

An airbag or SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) warning light means the car has logged a fault somewhere in the restraint chain — and it will not clear until that fault is genuinely resolved. A red SRS light means the airbags may not deploy in a collision, so it is not something to leave. We diagnose the whole SRS loop, from crash sensors and seatbelt tensioners to the airbag control module itself, using dealer-level tooling that reads every SRS code the way the manufacturer intended.

Common Symptoms

If you are seeing any of the following, it points to a airbag & srs faults issue we can diagnose:

  • Red or amber SRS / airbag warning light staying on
  • Passenger airbag-off light behaving incorrectly with no one in the seat
  • Seatbelt pre-tensioner fault codes after a minor bump or emergency stop
  • Crash data stored in the airbag module after an impact
  • Airbag module replaced second-hand and the light will not extinguish
  • Intermittent SRS warning that comes and goes with seat movement

Common Causes

Faults like this rarely have a single cause. The usual culprits we find are:

  • Faulty seat-occupancy / weight-sensor mat (common on BMW, Mini and Mercedes)
  • Clock spring / steering-column ribbon broken, breaking the airbag circuit
  • Crash data locked in the airbag ECU after an impact
  • Corroded or damaged SRS wiring under the seats from seat movement
  • Failed seatbelt pre-tensioner after an emergency stop

How We Diagnose Airbag & SRS Faults

01We read every SRS module with dealer-level software, not a generic code reader that only sees the engine ECU.
02Crash data is assessed honestly — if a module has deployed, we say so and recommend replacement; where it is a stored code from a resolved event, we clear it properly.
03Seat-occupancy sensors are tested at the mat and the module, not just condemned.
04Any replacement airbag or SRS module is coded and, where required, security-linked to the vehicle.
