Body Control Modules (BCM) in Telford

The Body Control Module (BCM) — or SAM on Mercedes, UEC/REC on Vauxhall — is the hub for a huge swathe of the car's electrical functions: locking, lighting, wipers, horn, interior and comfort systems. When it fails or is mis-coded, dozens of things go wrong at once. We diagnose BCM faults at module level, and on common failures like the Transit Custom BCM we can clone your data into a replacement so the car keeps its configuration.

Common Symptoms

If you are seeing any of the following, it points to a body control modules (bcm) issue we can diagnose:

  • Central locking, lights, wipers or horn behaving erratically together
  • Horn going off on its own, or lights staying on (common Transit Custom BCM failure)
  • Multiple comfort-system faults that appeared at the same time
  • BCM replaced and now functions are missing or coding errors appear
  • Water ingress into the BCM area
  • Key not recognised due to BCM / immobiliser link failure

Common Causes

Faults like this rarely have a single cause. The usual culprits we find are:

  • Internal BCM component failure (notably Ford Transit Custom)
  • Water ingress corroding the module or its connector
  • Module replaced without correct configuration / cloning of the original data
  • Variant coding lost after a battery or module swap

How We Diagnose Body Control Modules (BCM)

01We confirm the BCM is the cause — not a wiring or switch fault feeding it.
02On clonable modules (e.g. Transit Custom BCM) we read your original data and clone it into a replacement, plug-and-play.
03Replacement BCMs are variant-coded to the car so all functions return.
04Security and immobiliser links to the BCM are re-established after any replacement.
